First Blood - The first gaming session events

So it began...

An unemployed Marine, a nobleman entertaining himself before searching an enlightened life in a religious order, a low life traveler of the roads and a very silent elf hunter packed their bags and are off to a better life in the troubled north lands.

The first interesting event of that travel came in the Stirring Cock, a simple Inn with simple food, that serves as an example why one shouldn't ever leave the comfort provided by the gurgling cities. It was inhabited by uninteresting peasants and shepherds, that managed to bleed some shillings out of the Nobleman's pocket in a fair game of cards. He managed to raise the poor people's spirit by spilling out copper pieces like rain, which made all the suspicious faces in the beginning of the game fade away.

Games and fun aside we quickly discovered that the Inn also was serving as a detention point. The famous thief was being held in a hole outside of the Inn. It had being caught by a Bounty Hunter, that left him there and went fetch the Road Wardens to pick up the famous road raider. Curiosity to some of us, bladder to others lead us all to the vicinity of the hole, and we started earing some desperate cries from inside the whole. "Help me! Get me out of here! I'm no bandit!" and the likes...We started mocking him for being a liar, but he managed to sweet talk some of us by saying that he was only a poor peasant who had being searching for work. He said he was from a very nearby town and that droughts lead to lack of work there. Since he had a family to raise he decided to come search for work nearby, when he got mugged by a brutish fellow who tossed him in that pit and claimed him for a bandit. The town he mentioned was real nearby.

Half a day on the Reik would get us there, and we could quickly search for his wife and verify his story. There's no fun at all watching a innocent man go stiff on a rope so we decided spend some coin and time of ours and check out his story. 5 shillings light and hungry for breakfast we showed up at . We,ahem, quickly found the man's house and after delivering the terrible news without a single thought towards the poor spouse, we saw her collapse and faint into to the ground. Since the time was of essence -half a day later the Wardens would be back and then...well..it would be too late - we quickly helped her into her senses, and we shared her boat passage amongst us. It was possible to arrive to the Stirring Cock by foot just in time, but that could mean a night on the woods. Protecting ourselves is already difficult and dangerous, we surely didn't want to risk the poor wife and daughter lives with a rough night in the woods

By nightfall we're back in the Inn. All we could do now was wait. The vagabond learned that telling the same story in consecutive nights in the same Inn may not be the best way to dig up some coin from the peasantry. A day of boredom later the Road Wardens arrive. Several of them guarding a coach. Inside it travels an figure of authority and the bounty hunter. The trial is quick and painful to the bounty hunter. The poor man spouse's confirms that he is in fact and not the notorious bandit. That really grinds the judge's gears and on a flick he slaps the bandit tracker with a dangerous remark "Make me loose more time on such a manner and the next head that flies off may be well yours!!" Surely must be a burden to travel and enforce the Emperor's Law!! The bounty hunter vows vengeance for this humiliation..lets hope he's no better tracking the Samaritans of this story better than he is at tracking real criminal!!

Finally we depart the inn, roaming south along the river Reik, on our way to the Old Road. First night we spend it on the scorched ruins of outpost. We set a fire to provide warmth and keep the beasts at bay. We're awakened in the mid of night by our current scout claiming that eerie sounds are nearby!! Why can't wolfs leave us be?!? We set up for a possible clash with the starved beasts..but fortunately for both sides they decided to ran down easier prey than us.

New day on the road new strange and suspicious encounter with a massacred band of sigmarite priests. Apparently they were ambushed by a group of bandits, but managed to reppel the attack..at expenses of four of their own ranks. They refused assistance, they refused some first aid medic care, and they didn't share their traditional blessings towards us... Suspicion reigned amongst us, but they still had four able mans, and in the case they were actually bandits things could go very wrong for out little
group. In a witty call, we told them to beware of the large wolf pack that hunts in this region, and point them a safe place at the tower where we had spent the night. It served as a safe haven for them, for the case they were actually telling the truth, and in the opposite case, we hoped that we knew where they would be stationed.
We rushed quickly to the ambush spot, slowing only on its vicinity. We spotted crows in the air and we knew that something was really wrong with that group. A gory sighting awaited us! Hacked bodies, chopped limbs, blood and guts everywhere. A slaughter had indeed occurred and we found evidences that indeed priest had been ambushed there, but they didn't manage to repel the attack. They putted a good fight but lay dead in the end. We found a lingering soul that told us that the priests that we had crossed an hour and half ago, had ambushed them and kidnapped a small child. We had to try and save it back from their evil doer hands! She was the sole(??) heir from a Nobleman and was being moved out. She didn't deserved to be held hostage from such vile persons, and we could see ourselves in the good grace of a noble man, perhaps a generous one, to differentiate himself from the one that travels with us! After the weak bond that kept the woman in this world fade away, we raced in the reverse direction, stalking the bandits. Were they the ones that the bounty hunter was suposed to catch?!? Were they worth gold? Could we take them on?!? We hoped that the night could be our friend and we could catch them in their sleep. For our surprise we found out their cart plundered and bloodied along the road. Red and green blood spilled with the tracks leading unto the woods. Greenskins, We had been warned that they stalked this road, but we didn't plan on be the ones hunting them down, since the child body was nowhere to be found; we had to follow their trail and find her destiny!
We found their lair, a small cave where they set upa fire and gladly cooked a horse. An armored patrol of four globins left the cave while a wolf gnawed at the entrance of the cave. Six greenskins were busy with the horse and the small girl was binded near the entrance of the cave. The issue was the wolf. We could not fool his scent while trying to cut the ropes and flee the scene with the girl. We decided to shoot the beast from affar in a not so well planned action. The hunter and the vagabond would use their bows while the marine and the noble would be in charge to provide defense for them. The plan: shoot the wolf at the same time and hope for a silent death and starved goblins. It almost went OK, except for the almost miss of the hunter(there goes the last FP) resulting in only a grazing hit. The wolf signaled us, the goblins eventually noticed us and we found ourselves outnumbered by screaming green things. They made a target practice out of marine but in the end we stood victorious, slightly wounded, with an extra bow(why does everyone fails SEARCH tests in this party?!?) and with the girl. We fled the cave to prevent a nastier clash with the armored patrol.

There. More than three hours of game play resumed.
Cya you guys tomorrow for the follow up!

First Session

And last Friday, 16th of February we (re)started roleplaying in Warhammer world. Unfortunately we couldn't count with one of the party members, that was with a sore back...shame on you Rique, shame on you. Now seriously hope you get better for the next encounter Friday, 23rd February.

We got a serious long road to run for till we get to Middenheim. I wonder how much has changed in the town ever since we last saw it - large festival, incredible amounts of people, lots and lots of attractions to everyone player in the party, and probably a massive headache for the GM, while running it. Power Behind the Throne, one of the best adventures to be role played, in my book!!

See you guys in Friday

Journal Created!

After countless hours of role playing in the vicious world of Warhammer I've finally decided to set up a community journal for our wfrp gaming group.

The shattered empire will come to life every(we think) Friday's; spawning place: Rui's, our ruthless game master. After some run ins with V2 (A rough night in the Three Feathers), we've decided to stick with the updated rules, and, i think, we'll go for the Paths of the Damned startup: Ashes of Middenheim

The intrepid adventurers will be driven by Becas, Puto, Rique and Truz, lets hope that we can reach epic(NOT!) fates for our puny characters.

Eagerly awaiting for the the "first" gaming session of V2!
